Who Motivates The Coach?

As a coach I get most of my motivation from the swimmers I coach.  I thought this week would be particulary difficult at practice because one of my consistently hardest workers is no longer here...Brock.  That is why I have been pleasantly and thankfully surprised with the excellent Attitude, Attendance and Effort that I have seen this week from most of the senior Spartan team...

Mackenzie Morris has had a great week at practice this week in and out of the pool.  On July 1st she broke her own record in the 1 mile Butterfly (1500 Long Course Meters) by 47 seconds with a 25:48.68!

This morning she broke the 6 minute barrier in the Mile Run at Chataqua Park (which includes Hell Hill) with a 5:55.38!   If her work ethic and success at practice are any indication of how well she will do when she is rested, tapered and shaved at the State Championships (and I do believe there is a connection) then "Big Mack" as the boys affectionately call her should have a Big State meet...

Mackenzie is not the only Marlin swimmer working hard:

Luke Royal did a double this week on Wednesday for the first time!

Kate Hornaday did 2 doubles this week!!

Will Alvey and Sam Hall did a Triple on Wednesday (2 swim practices and 1 dryland weights)!!!

Cameron Quisenberry and Michael Polio have been doing a lot of running with their cross country teammates this summer in addition to swim practice:  Michael routinely runs 7-8 miles before swim practice each morning!

Who motivates the coach?

You swimmers Make all the difference... you really do!

It is great to be able to coach such a motivated group of swimmers-

Keep it Up Marlins!!  and, thank you for helping me through a difficult transition in my own life by helping to keep me motivated and excited to coach!

Swimcerely,

Coach Bedingfield
